Zuari Industries Limited (Zuari) promoted by Dr. K.K.Birla, entered the Indian corporate scene in 1967 by investment in fertilisers in Goa. Zuari, subsequently promoted Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited and over the years the two companies have established a significant presence in the country. Zuari-Chambal, part of the K.K. Birla Group, is a professionally managed, diversified conglomerate with a turnover of over Rs. 5,000 crores and an asset base of Rs. 4,500 crores. It has investments in fertilisers, cement, hybrid seeds, biotechnology, ready-to-assemble furniture, chemicals, software, investments, home finance and engineering services.

Zuari Industries Limited- Fertiliser Division
Zuari Industries Ltd., formerly known as Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited, was incorporated in 1967 in financial and technical collaboration with US Steel Corporation to manufacture Urea. The Fertiliser Division lies at the core of the company's operations and accounts for the major share of its business. Zuari's Fertiliser plant has an annual installed capacity of 946,200 metric tonnes of fertilisers.
Zuari Seeds Llimited
Zuari Seeds Limited, a subsidiary of Zuari Industries Limited, is devoted to delivering quality crop seeds to the Indian farmers. The company was incorporated in 1995 and is engaged in the research, development, production and marketing of a range of field and vegetable crop seeds, sold under the 'Jai Kisaan' brand name.
Zuari Investment Limited
Incorporated in 1994 Zuari Investments was promoted as a wholly owned subsidiary of Zuari Industries Ltd. to take advantage of the growing capital market and short term investment opportunities. In the year 2000, Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited joined with Zuari and today the company is a 50:50 joint venture between ZIL and CFCL with a paid up capital of Rs. 711 million. The company is registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India as a Category I Merchant Banker and dealer of OTC Exchange of India and is a participant of NSDL.
Indian Furniture Products
Set up in 1997 as a division of Zuari Industries Limited, in collaboration with Groupe Seribo of France. Ready to Assemble (RTA) furniture of contemporary European design is an addition to Zuari's corporate portfolio. Located at Kakkalur near Chennai, IFP's furniture is marketed under two brands, Gautier and Zuari.

Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited
Chambal Fertilisers is a flagship company in the KK Birla Group. Chambal was promoted by Zuari Industries Limited (ZIL) and its two hi-tech nitrogenous Fertiliser Plants are located at Gadepan, Rajasthan, India. The Gadepan Fertiliser Complex is the largest in the Private Sector in India. It has three Division- Agri-inputs, Shipping and Textiles. It has business interests through subsidiaries and Joint Ventures in the areas of software, power, financial and insurance services and has a phosphoric acid facility in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Birla Textile Mills
Birla Textile Mills (BTM), a Division of Chambal, set up synthetic yarn production facilty at Baddi in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, India with an initial capacity of 27,392 spindles. BTM started commercial production in May 2000. The capacity was subsequently expanded to 80,208 spindles. BTM has state-of-the-art Spinning Unit having modern and automatic machines with sophisticated quality assurance equipments.
CFCL Technologies Limited (ISGN)
Chambal made inroads into the software business in 1998 by setting up India Software Group (ISG) - its software division and setting up a software development centre in Chennai.Subsequently, Chambal acquired NovaSoft Information Technology Corporation - a company headquartered in New Jersey, USA along with its subsidiaries.
Chambal Infrastructure Ventures Limited
Chambal proposes to foray into infrastructure related business including the Power Sector. A wholly owned subsidiary of Chambal - Chambal Infrastructure Ventures Limited (CIVL) has been set up for the purpose. Chambal's endeavour in the power sector would be to build a major integrated power business, across various sectors, including fuel sourcing through coal mining to take advantage of the significant and expanding opportunities in the fast growing power sector in India.
OCP Group
Indo Maroc Phosphore SA
Indo Maroc Phosphore SA (IMACID), a Joint Venture, between Chambal and Office Cherifen Des Phosphate (OCP) commenced commercial production in November 1999 at the port of Jorf Lasfar, Morocco. The IMACID Factory produces 3,300 MT per day of Sulphuric Acid. Subsequently, both Chambal and OCP disinvested one third of their respective holdings in IMACID to Tata Chemicals Limited.
