Hansraj Aryan Tournament every year to commemorate the sacred memory of legendary sage and scholar Mahatma Hansraj. The specific aim is to prepare young persons of sturdy build with balanced minds.
The DAV public school PPL Paradeep was honored to host the XVI Mahatma Hansraj Aryan Zonal Tournament ’09 in Paradeep. The Tournament was organized with mush fanfare and show on 6th-7th November, 2009.
More than 600 Athletes , 99 sporting officials and 40 principals of various DAV schools from Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, & Manipur came together to a common ground that signifies unity, integrity, discipline, strength and brotherhood in DAV family.
The Tournament was inaugurated on 6th Nov. ’09 by Sri Santosh Upadhaya , IPS, IG , Central Range, Cuttack with grace and style in presence of Sri Ranjan Basu, VP(O), President of the tournament , the Zonal Secretary of the tournament Dr. H.K. Mohanty and Sri S.K. Dash, Principal DAV PPL. The honourable Chief Guest also unveiled the mascot of the tournament “OLIVA” an Olive Ridley Turtle.
On the valedictory ceremony which was held on 7th Nov. ’09 with the prodigious presence of His Excellency Sri I.M. Qudusi , Chief Justice(Acting) Orissa. Mr. Quddusi in his address appreciated and applauded the role played by DAV Schools in nurturing young minds to make them enlightened citizens. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Sri Ranjan Basu, VP(O), Sri Debdutta Singh, IPS, SP Jagatsinghpur, Dr. H.K. Mohanty Regional Director , DAV and Sri P.K. Panda, DGM(P&A).
A Spectacular cultural programme on folk dance of Orissa were presented by the students of DAV PPL and DAV IFFCO ob the inaugural and valedictory ceremony respectively. The Tournament enable the young talented sportsmen to display their skill valour, energy in various athletic events.
The ace sprinter Amiya Malik of DAV, Chandrasekharpur and Bidutprava Mallik of DAV, Burla were adjudged as the best athletes in senior Boys and Girls category respectively. The host school bagged seven medals in the Tournament. The DAv Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar was at the apex to grab the highest medals and emerged as the champion of the tournament and runners up position was clinched by DAV, IB Valley, Brajrajnagar. Vishal Kumar of DAV Bandbahal and Nikita Nayak of DAV, Brajraj Nagar were adjudged as the best athlete in Junior Boys and Girls Category.
The DAV fraternity and the PPL management shouldered all responsibility to provide all facilities to the contingents to make their stay their stay in the campus comfortable and trouble free.
The event was fruitful reality because of uniting effort of Sri Ranjan Basu, VP(O), president of the committee, Dr. H.K. Mohanty , Regional Director, DAV Sri P.K. Panda , DGM (P&A) , Sri S.K. Dash, Principal , DAV, PPL Paradeep.
