Our Approach
to Sustainability

The economic growth of any business today is closely tied to its ESG (environment, social, governance) performance. As a leading player in the phosphatic fertilizer industry, we have fully integrated ESG principles into all facets of our operations.

We measure our ESG performance through six types of capital — financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and relationship, and natural. We have implemented several ESG initiatives across the entire value chain like energy optimisation, water conservation, biodiversity management, responsible waste management, control of air emissions, human capital development, farmer-connect programmes, community development and others.

To demonstrate our commitment to ESG, we have published our first-ever ESG Report, which provides a comprehensive overview of our non-financial performance, including GHG emissions, for FY 2021-22. The report identifies key focus areas, or material topics, to better understand our ESG impact across domains.

Our ESG report aligns with globally recognised frameworks such as the International Integrated Reporting Council’s (IIRC) Integrated Reporting Framework, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We remain committed to continually improving our ESG performance to build a sustainable future for all.

Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with communities greatly strengthens our social licence to operation and brand value. A Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, developed in compliance with Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013 and CSR Rules 2014 and subsequent amendments, provides the overall framework to our approach to community relations and development. Thrust areas of our community development framework include Livelihoods, Education, Health (WaSH-Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), and Environment. Our interventions are designed in line with the requirements of the communities we serve and support. We proactively respond to ad hoc requests from nearby communities and local authorities, supporting them during critical situations and addressing their immediate needs.

In partnership with Harsha Trust, Society for Children, and Sambhav Foundation, we have touched the lives of over 10,000 households at Paradeep and over 3,000 households in Goa.
